| Kitties from Heaven was started in 2003, and our grand total of permenant homes found has been over 150 kitties!! We are a small non profit organization located in central Iowa. As the owner and manager, I currently run the network with my husband in Webster City. When we started our rescue Hamilton County did not have an animal shelter, so our organization's purpose was to help the local vets office, along with other vets and shelters, find homes for their kitties, as well as strays and homeless cats, as populations do seem to grow! We also helped private persons rehome their pets for various reasons, and we placed homeless animals with temporary families until permanant homes could be found. We also raised money to assist with the care and medical needs of these kitties, and recruited volunteers to help with transports to new homes. We have rehomed cats from as far away as Georgia and New Jersey! In 2005 we made the decision to create a sanctuary for cats with FIV, FeLK, and Diabetes. Many cats with these afflictions are put to sleep in shelters around the country, regardless of their age, or health, but simply because of their diagnosis. With the help of dedicated volunteers from around the country, Kitties from Heaven has been able to add this addition to give a cage free living environment to unfortunate kitties who would not have known a home or a life otherwise. |

| The inspiration for this rescue is a wild little kitty named Evie who passed away November of 2005 from FIV. She was very ill and very hostile when we found her on our back porch, and, before her death, was living in my bedroom and sleeping in my bed. We believe that any kitty with this disease deserves a chance, no matter how much they like, or dislike people. If you are interested in helping out with this endeavor, or you know of a kitty in need, please e-mail us. We are a non profit organization and will be funding our sanctuary on donations and sponsorships. Each cat that comes to our sanctuary comes with a donation for their medical care, but we do take general donations toward things like food, and operating costs! |
