Evie

Evie was left on my back porch shortly before New Years Eve 2002. She was a full grown cat and weighed only four pounds. Along with being severly malnourished, she also had a sinus, eye, and tooth infection! After countless vet visits, five types of antibiotic, and surgery to remove all of her teeth, she finally regained her health. Her attitude improved as well. When I first got her, she had to be caught with a towel,a nd could not be handled without one. With a lot of patience, she progressed to sleeping in my bed, and was very affectionate. In the fall of 2003, however, she was diagnosed with FIV. She succombed to a severe upper respiratory infection on November 7, 2003 and went over the Rainbow Bridge.
Evie-Cheese as she was nicknamed, was an amazing cat. After she became well, she trusted me with her whole heart, even through all of the medication and IV's. She had a huge impact on my life, and it is now Kitties from Heaven's goal to one day be able to open "Evie's House," a sanctuary for cats with FIV, to help them lead more full lives.
All in all Evie has proved her namesake correct;
"The light of the Evenstar never fades."
